TechBeacon Learn puts you in touch with the experts – for free

Posted By Mike Perrow, Wednesday, November 22, 2017

How do you and your colleagues learn about new technology? When, for example, you read a headline crawl or an RSS feed and you want to know more? News sources give you the what and the why, but if you want to learn how, you usually have to wade through pages of marketing material that come up with your key word searches. Good luck finding info you can use!

Our goal with TechBeacon and TechBeacon Learn is to change that experience. For the past 2.5 years we have commited to objective, non-marketing, non-branded content that helps curious readers understand

  • what tech and IT trends really matter
  • how to solve day-to-day problems with proven best practices
  • how to make technology decisions

We publish the industry experts that can help practitioners understand the issues, without bogging you down with marketing messages from our sponsor. (We know you can find that when you’re ready.)

New learning tracks

Since the last edition of the Vivit newsletter, we’ve launched four new tracks on our TechBeacon Learn education site:

Application security – focused on the principles and techniques can help software dev teams stay ahead of threats.

ChatOps – offering efficient ChatOps techniques to communicate about, and automate responses to, critical events within their tech domain.

Secure DevOpsbringing together the design, development, and operational aspects of security into a single discipline for the software development process.

Software innovation for business leaders – a unique track for business leaders who need to understand how software gets developed, what techniques are important, and how their teams become successful. (This track is for your boss, in other words!)

Before the end of the year, we’ll also launch a new track on “Hybrid cloud management,” as we continue to add more learn units to all 10 of our existing tracks.

More great content on TechBeacon Learn

Posted By Mike Perrow, Wednesday, October 18, 2017

TechBeacon Learn is the new Micro Focus (formerly HPE) tech-ed site for IT professionals facing a variety of challenges—which can include simply getting up to speed on core IT issues. Since we launched TBL in June with four learning tracks, we’ve added two more: Continuous Testing, and IT Operations Analytics.

Continuous Testing covers:

  • Radically collaborative development methods and what that means for testing
  • How exploratory testing helps find more bugs in less time
  • Test frameworks and automated testing—lots of content under this topic

IT Operations Analytics covers:

  • An intro to IT ops analytics
  • Essential use cases for analytics, in two parts.
  • An intro to tool-based root cause analysis

And there’s more on the way, with tracks on Application Security and ChatOps scheduled to roll out over the coming weeks.

In September we launched a special track that you should know about, or at least let your managers know about. It’s called “Software Innovation for Business Leaders.” If you need to understand how software used to be designed and developed, so you can convince management that modern approaches offer way more efficiency, this is an easy track for you to digest—or simply point people to it. It’s basically a guide to the old vs. the new in software dev.
